Nomads,
My Sincere thanks to Richard and Brian for stepping up to the plate at Cato Ridge. You guys are getting plenty of practice for your term in these roles for next year. From all accounts prize giving went off smoothly and well on time as we had planned. Well done.
Richard joined up with the captain of Cato, Abel Erasmus as well as John Lees, Nomads’ National junior vice chairman who was playing a make up game after a 3 month Australian visit with his family. Appropriately Richard and John will both serve at the helm of their committees in 2011, so this was a great opportunity to form their relationship for next year.
Cato Ridge was well prepared for our visit and they threw in a curry and rice dinner which was a nice touch and well received. To those nomads who assisted in ensuring this success were Bob Catlin, Manie Snyman, Frank Day, Derryck Willans and Keith Moors. Gentlemen thanks for your commitment and this will go a long way to motivate a spot on next year’s calendar.
Congratulations to all the divisional winners on the day; (A Division, Keith Forde, 36 points), (B Division, Craig Smythe, 37 points) and (C Division, Graham Blackburn, 39 points).
We were blessed with plenty of visitors on the day. Stan Swales from Zimbabwe whose son is the current National chairman Zimbabwe nomads, Martin Te Groen from Northerns and those 3 regulars from Southern Natal in Peter Powell, Chris Brooks and Dave Eaton.
Waiting list members on the day were Greg Graham and David Buxton. Also visiting were John Muir, Melville’s Dad, Paul Roux and Gareth Enslin.
Gentlemen you are always welcome so please join us again.
Well Nationals in Pretoria has come and gone for another year. We all had a great time and played great golf but fell short on the last day failing to bring home the Bert Hunt trophy which was eventually won by Easterns with Natal eventually placing 3rd. To the Natal team, thank you for your support in keeping together as a team where possible. It is always difficult at this tournament but I reckon we saw more of each other here than in the past which helped in keeping the team spirit alive.
Traditionally your fines master after nationals is Roy boy but as he recovers at home your fines master at Umkomaas will be Melville Muir. Watch out ‘cos this is gonna get ugly.
See you all at Umkomaas.
Alan Lukan
