As this is my last report as your Vice Captain I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank my Andrew Mentis Committee for all their support and input this year with the fundraising, golf days and Race day. It was a tough year with all of us mindful of the credit crunch, yet we were able to achieve our target of R150 000 for Childline KZN and to provide them with much needed support. Thanks go to all of you Nomads for your participation and sponsorship this year as well. To the outgoing Captain, Alan Lukan, it has been a pleasure working with you and congratulations on a year well run. I will still be looking to your strong leadership and guidance in 2011.
The Race day on Thursday 11 November was a huge success , and even the weather gods played along for a change. Much thanks to the Race team of Guy Armstrong , Udo Goedeke and Iain and Pumpy Lambert who put in all the hours and effort to ensure that the venue and food and activities were top class. It was a fantastic evening and I urge you to support this event in the future.
We had our Super 10 draw at Kloof CC , congratulations to Mark Brazier on winning the top prize of 7 nights accommodation at any GRC destination with car hire and Air flights thrown in as well. Many thanks also to Butch Armitage and Andre Conradie for donating their cash prizes of R665 and R100 respectively to the Andrew Mentis fund – you guys are true Nomads.
Look forward to seeing you all at Gold Cup at Beachwood on the 3rd December.
Richard Agar.
