Cost of prizes:

At our recent annual general meeting Dick Skinner expressed the surprise at the massive increase in the cost of prizes. At the first committee meeting after the annual general meeting we decided that in fact there were too many prizes and, as well as prolonging the meeting unnecessarily, it increased the cost. In the current economic climate it was felt that we should take steps to remedy both these points. The result is from the current game there will be a substantial decrease in the number of prizes and hopefully a shorter prize giving.

Score cards:

The winners and various non winners chosen at random have their playing cards checked against the score they enter in the computer. Unfortunately we are finding, not to put too blunt a word on it, some members enter scores into the computer that are two or three shots more than they have played. It is hard to see how this is a mistake when the club handicaps are recorded against each hole played, on the score card.

Attendance at prize giving:

Some members are at the club at which prize giving is taking place but don’t come out of the bar to attend. This is outright rudeness to the Captain. In future action may have to be taken against these players.

Awards and new members:

Brian Findlay gets his five year tie and John Winton his awe inspiring 450 game badge at the next meeting. Alan Gooderson, Jay van Rensburg and Tony Graham have proposed Dave Baxter, Frans Kemper and Greg Graham respectively for membership.
