Mount Edgecombe was in perfect condition and the weather played it’s part. Bill Hooten, the captain was unable to play and Bernie Boonzaaier hosted us for the day. Thanks Bernie for the good day we enjoyed together.
Congratulations to Joel Lauratet (A-div) 40 points, Craig Massey (B-div) 41 points and the “Bus Driver“ Munro (C-div) 39 points on winning their respective divisions. Other 40 pointers for the day went to Gavin Bissict and the evergreen Bruce Baird. Guys this is not the right month to get a 40 pointer if you want to shape in the Gold Cup Day as the handicapper has no pity on anyone getting a 40 pointer. Well done on holding your nerves to achieve the Silver Tray.
Our Gold Cup Day at Beachwood ends a busy year. Take some time out to have a look at the new Trophy cabinet we have had built in the foyer at Beachwood which will in future house all our Trophies and a history of Nomads. We are starting the day early as the scorers have a big task to finish all the Gold Cup scoring before prizegiving and we don’t want to be there all night! Enjoy the day, the course is in beautiful condition and score well.
The finals of the Gary Player and the Plate are played this month. The Gary Player main event sees Fred Stopforth & Garth Enslin against Alan Lazarus & Daryl Francois , whilst the Plate Event sees Melville Muir & Gustav Kriese up against Eric Morsner & Peter Avellini. Good luck to all of you – enjoy the contest and well done for making it all the way to the finals.
This is my last newsletter as your captain and I would like to thank each and every one of you for making this year a memorable one. It is an experience never to be forgotten and there have been more ups than down during the year. Finally to my Committee thank you for all your hard work during the year, it has been fun. To our scorer Barbara, starters Jackie Chisholm, Bones Cochrane and Roy Language, and last but definitely not least Jenny Sumner and Helen Parker for running our Golf Days, I thank you all. Without you all we would be lost!
May I take this opportunity of wishing you all a Blessed Christmas with your families and a successful 2010.
Mark
